Well another year is almost over. As has been my history, nomadic adventures continue. Back in 2023, we lived in both New York City and West Virginia. At the end of December 2023 we moved here to Southern Wisconsin. Well, yet again we are moving. At the end of this year, in just a few weeks we will be moving to East Texas.
Other things, I recieved a scholarship for the SANS Cyber Academy. I already finished my first course and recieved my GFACT (SEC275: Foundations: Computers, Technology, & Security™) cert and have started studying for my GSEC (SEC401: Security Essentials - Network, Endpoint, and Cloud™) which I will be taking in March. To end the SANS cycle, after GSEC take another three months to work on my GCIH (SEC504™: Hacker Tools, Techniques, and Incident Handling™). This will hopefully get me a foot in the door to some remote security work.
I also started taking the courses on Boot.dev. This I have been doing very part time since I have been studying all the security stuff, but Python helps and was part of the GFACT course and I want to reinforce it. Boot.dev also covers Go, which I always have been interested in, since its great for making cool little command line tools.
Other than that, it's been my usuall Mr.Mom stuff with the kids, taking care of our two dogs and reading some books. I've been trying to watch less and less television. I have an addiction for anything Taylor Sheridan has written and produced so the shows I have been watching are Yellowstone, 1923, 1883, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lioness, and Landman. Now that I look, thats a lot of television.
Oh well, that is the summary of the year really. Not that this would be a last post of the year.. but since my posts from 2024 are sort of lacking, this summarizes things nicely.
